Our History

In 2008, eight organizations received five-year funding to support active living in their counties, cities, towns and neighborhoods. As a result of their efforts, nearly 100 new policies, resolutions and infrastructure changes were successfully implemented. 

From 2008–2013, Active Living initiatives thrived in Bemidji, Clay County, Dakota Country, Douglas County, Hennepin County, La Crescent, Pipestone, and Rochester. 

Through this five-year effort, the Center partnered with eight organizations to improve Minnesota’s food environment by increasing access to, and availability of, healthy foods across the state.
